Online Networking: Can it replace Offline one?

Linkedin rocks! So do Orkut and Hi5. There are people who believe that social networking sites will not work in India. I think differently. Youngsters throng to Orkut and Hi5 like nobody's business.

But one key question remains unanswered. Will there be a time when Online networking will replace offline one? If you think deep, you will get the answer though not a definitive one. Messengers are also like social networking tools only and most of us remain in touch with others through them mostly. Offline we hardly meet. So Online has replaced Offline here!

I think, networking sites that have a distinct thread that can form the basis of a community building will succeed. Extramarks.com (http://www.extramarks.com/) , the site we will launch in early July will have Education as that binding thread. Lets see if it works!

I think you are right. But a whole lot of them will confuse the netizens or even worse bring a feeling of ennui!

Networking sites are a great tool to connect with like minded people. In fact it can be a great opportunity for marketeers to be on these sites to get in sights about consumer behaviour
